Traditional Arts Workshops

Sat., May 31, 9AM-1PM: Make a Blacksmithing Forge or Metal Casting Furnace. With instructor Adriaan Gerber, you will assemble a cylinder type forge or furnace with top or side access. All materials supplied, including refractory cement. $200

Sun., June 1, 9AM-4PM: Knife Making: Make a Finnish Puukko or American Bowie Knife. $125

Sat., June 7, 9AM-4PM: Basic Blacksmithing. With blacksmith Adriaan Gerber learn the basics, $125

Sun., June 8, 9M-4PM: Blade-Making: Make a Tomahawk. Continue on from Saturday’s class and create this edge tool from spring steel with master bladesmith Adriaan Gerber. File and Harden the blade once formed. $125

Sat. & Sun., June 21 & 22, 9AM-4PM: 2-Day Make a Mortise and Tenon Workbench with Vise. Learn this technique of joinery constructing an heirloom woodworking tool. Materials and tools provided. $250 Take dovetail tool box class too and receive a 10 percent discount. Take it with your son or daughter for the same cost. $225

Sat. & Sun, June 28 &29, 9AM-4PM. 2-Day Make a Dovetail Tool Box. Make a traditional hinged top tool chest with dovetail joints using traditional hand tools. Take the workbench class too and receive a 10 percent discount. Take it with your son or daughter for the same cost. $225

Sat. & Sun., July 5 & 6, 9AM-4PM: Fathers & Sons or Daughters & Mothers Catapult Making Class. Make a 48 inch tall working catapult with post and beam and wooden peg construction. Two for the price of one, good bonding and learning activity.  $200 a pair.

Sat., July 12, 9AM-4PM: Make a Coal Burning Blacksmith Forge. With heavy gauge steel panel, angle iron, a brake drum and pipe make this nut and bolt construction. $150, $20 extra for an electric blower.

Sun., July 13, 9AM: Basic Blacksmithing: Make Tools for Your Blacksmithing Forge. You will create a shovel, rake and poker. $125, 15% discount, if you take the forge making class.

Sat. & Sun., July 19 and/or July 20, 9AM-4PM: 1 Day or 2 Day Metal Casting Class. Day One Class includes two sand castings ( an aluminum and a brass or bronze) among a choice of patterns: sun dial, door knocker, metal casting tool...;  Day Two Class includes an aluminum bell hanger and a four inch brass bell casting from a pattern of the instructor's design. 1-Day $135, 2-Day $185.

Sat. & Sun., Aug. 16 and/or Aug. 17, 9AM-4PM: 1 Day or 2 Day Metal Casting Class. Day One Class includes two sand castings ( an aluminum and a brass or bronze) among a choice of patterns: sun dial, door knocker, metal casting tool...;  Day Two Class includes a larger project from a pattern of the instructor's design. 1-Day $135, 2-Day $185.

Sat. & Sun., Aug. 23 & 24, 9AM-4PM: 2-Day Make a Apple Cider Press. With hand tools you will construct a mortise and tenon press with a metal screw and wood basket to press apples. Materials and tools provided. $225
